Parental Involvement
SEND at Broughton - Family Involvement
At Broughton Primary School, we understand that parents and carers are the experts on their own children. We strive to ensure that parents are not only involved in their child’s provision and progress, but are an integral part of it throughout their school journey. We aim to achieve this by providing consistent and ongoing dialogue between home and school, encouraging parents to contribute and invest in personal target-setting and creating a warm and welcoming school environment in which all parents and carers of children on the SEND register feel supported. We offer multiple opportunities throughout the academic year for parents to input into their child’s learning. These include but are not limited to; regular termly meetings with class teachers to discuss progress and targets, termly ‘coffee mornings’ as an opportunity for SEND parents to meet together in school, share experiences and hear from experts and professionals from outside agencies, and an open-door policy where parents are able to meet with SENDCo, teachers and/or the Learning Mentor should they need to. At Broughton, we believe that all children should have access to the same learning and life opportunities and we recognise that school and parents should work in partnership to achieve this.
