Harold Slater Shield Round 1

Harold Slater Shield First Round Match Report

U9s Mini Mix at Preston's College

UKS2 Hockey League Division 1

Our first league fixtures saw us play hockey for the first time this year down at UCLan Sports Arena. Our fixtures were played over 2 weeks, where we came up against Sherwood, OLSE, St. Joseph's, Queen's Drive and St. Andrew's.

We drew our first game 1-1 against St. Andrew's, going on to beat Sherwood 1-0, Queen's Drive 4-0 and St. Joseph's 2-0. We went into our final game unbeaten, needing a draw or a win for the Division 1 title. Unfortunately, OLSE were too strong for us and we were beaten 1-0. OLSE went on to then win their games and come out as well-deserved champions. We finished runners up and, although the team did not win their final game, they were over the moon with this fantastic achievement and were extremely proud with how they had performed as a team over the 5 games. Alex said, 'I am very proud of us. Some of us have never played hockey competitively before so what we did was really good! I am happy that we finished 2nd.'

Team: Joshua Newman-Kirk, Natasha Smith (C), Lucas Bolton, Georgia Hayhurst, Isaac Corcoran, Alex Ogonowski, Mila Pettit and Ellie Wilde-McDonald.

A really well-run competition down at UCLan by Mr. Birkenshaw; the new School Games Organiser for Preston's primary schools. The girls were very excited to play together for the very first time, and they did not disappoint. We played 4 games in out group against St. Peter's, Goosnargh St. Olliverson's, Lea CP and Barnacre. We came out of our group unbeaten, winning 3 and drawing 1 - finishing second on goal difference behind St. Peter's.

We then played St. Bernard's in the quarter - finals, winning 1-0 to progress to the semi-finals against Brockholes Wood. Brockholes were too strong for our girls, and they progressed to the final, and then went on to beat St. Peter's to become champions.

We played Eldon in our third-place playoff and were beaten on penalties. The girls showed desire and determination throughout and did not give up. Considering it was the first time they had ever played together as a team, finishing 4th out of 20 teams is absolutely magnificent and the girls were super proud of themselves!

Team: Faatimah-Zahra Essa, India Thompson-Amrith (C), Niamh Brown, Poppy Cooper, Isabella Pace, Maya Bhayat, Zainab Iftikhar and Jessica Brown.

EFL Kids' Cup October 2021

The boys were absolutely delighted to take part in the EFL Kids' Cup. We played 4 games against Sherwood, St. Anthony's, Harris Primary and Blessed Sacrament - winning 1, drawing  and losing 2. We finished fifth overall. Very well done to the rest of the teams for playing well, showing great sportsmanship and having so much fun!

Team: Noah Swindlehurst, Harry Ingham, Theo Gardner, Joshua Newman-Kirk (C), Isaac Corcoran, Alex Ogonoswki, Reuben Hookham-Foy and Oliver Ogden.
