Textiles

We used our plans, prototypes and pattern pieces to create our final tapestry pieces to show important events which happened during the Queen’s reign. 👑

LKS2

Children in LKS2 have been learning about what a prototype is and how they can help us to improve our own final products. They used J-cloths to create prototypes and pattern pieces to see how their final pieces might look.

Children in LKS2 have been recapping their sewing knowledge and practising their running stitch and overstitch before planning and creating their own version of The Bayeux Tapestry. 🧵 🪡

LKS2

Children in LKS2 have been learning about the significance of the Bayeux Tapestry; studying how it was made and the features that can be seen.

Elm class have been investigating how fabrics can be joined using different techniques.

The children in Years 1 and 2 used their new textiles skills to design, make and evaluate a Christmas stocking.

They had to:

  • Cut out the shape of the stocking which had been created by drawing round a template

  • Join the two pieces of fabric together using running stitch
