Collage

Children in Year 1 found objects around the classroom in different colours. Then they expanded their knowledge to recognise that red, for example, is not just one colour and has many different tints and shades. They used a colour thesaurus to match sections of Paul Klee’s ‘Castle and the Sun’ to some of these different shades and tints.

Year 3 explored some popular Roman mosaics and frescoes. They thought about which shapes, lines, objects and colours they could see, how the artwork made them feel and what the artist was trying to tell us before quick-sketching different sections.

UKS2 have been combining painting and collage techniques to create final pieces linked to ‘In Flanders Fields’ using a range of different media. 🌺

LKS2

Children in LKS2 have been exploring collage techniques; using it to collect ideas and information, create mosaics and their own Roman-inspired designs. ⚔️ 🇮🇹
