Dick Kerr Cup

Our defence of the Dick Kerr Cup started off with a BYE win through to the second round as Deepdale were unable to meet the fixture. Keep your eye out for our next fixture to continue our defence of the cup!

U11s Girls' Tournament

|

Finalists at our first football event of the year!

We kicked off our girls' football season at UCLan Sports Arena in the School Games  Football Tournament. Our group constisted of Cottam, St. Clare's, St. Anthony's, and St. Andrew's. We kicked off our campaign with a convincing 8-0 win against Cottam - off to a great start!

Our next fixture saw us come out with another well-earned victory against St. Andrew's, coming out 1-0 winners. We then continued our winning streak to three games, beating St. Anthony's 4-0. We went into our final group game confident, beating St. Clare's 1-0 and we headed into the group stages unbeaten - and better still, without conceding a goal.

We had a further four games to play as we played the winners from each group - two of whom would battle it out in the final game. Lea CP was our first game and, yet again, the girls worked superbly and shut out another team. 3-0 Broughton.

St. Peter's was our next test, and a strong test they were. However, O. Newman-Kirk came up with the answer and we were on the right end of a 1-0 scoreline. It took to the third round of group stages games for us to concede our first goal of the day, and inevitably drop our first points, as we drew 1-1 with SMG. We built on this result in the next game and were back to winning ways, beat Sherwood Primary 1-0.

After such a fantastic performance from each and every girl, we reached the final with a superb unbeaten record and we came up against St. Bernard's - who too were unbeaten all day. It was St.Bernard's who would continue their unbeaten run to the end of the tournament, as they proved just a step too far for us - coming out 1-0 winners and overall champions of the event. I could not fault the girls' efforts and commitment right until the end. To do so well with 3 debutants and no practice was absolutely outstanding and I am super proud of them all! Look out for the next report, as we are set to play Deepdale Community in our defence of the Dick Kerr's Cup.
