Year 5/6 Girls Football League Match – Home – vs St Joseph’s – 16th Oct

Monday 16th October was the day for our first league match in the Preston Girls Division 1. We have decided as a school that this is one area of focus for us for years to come at Broughton. The girls had been training really hard to get themselves organised and prepared for the season ahead. We had done early morning training sessions too. The girls were incredibly excited and determined to do well. Did they disappoint? Absolutely not. The girls were absolutely amazing. Grace in goal was like a brick wall, ie. Nothing getting through, Tilly (player of the match) put in one of the strongest defensive display I have ever seen, Eva was on fire chasing down every ball and starting attacks, Elise, well, it must run in the family, hard as nails, absolutely everywhere and tackling everybody, Bayla was pulling all the strings in midfield and scoring two goals, Alice was running up the wing and tracking back all the time, Katie was as calm and collected as ever on the ball and finally Miss Anderson (Jess): the hat-trick hero and full running and terrorising the defenders from beginning to end. Broughton ran out 5-1 winners in the end.

Mr. Bird’s Comments: “As one can see from the above report, there is one very proud teacher here. In eight years, that is the best girls football and I would say team performance we’ve had at Broughton.”
