Sport at Broughton from Summer 2017

|

Participation in sport has increased at Broughton CE year on year. Pupils, parents, staff and governors all play their part. At the heart of this is enjoyment and creating a lifelong love of sport. A parent suggested we adopt the slogan: “Small school, big heart.”

The effort, determination and commitment to the whole of sport from all of our children is outstanding. This has led to our school gaining great achievements since 2010, i.e: lots of top 3 finishes.

As the P.E co-ordinator and sport leader I endeavour to seize competitive opportunities for the children across the age groups. The passion and enthusiasm from the children and staff are tangible.

We have strong links with the community. Children from our school are involved in Preston Harriers, Preston Swimming Club, Preston Gymnastics Club, local tennis clubs, local cricket clubs and also local and regional football teams.

Our governors and parents (Mr Burrow mainly) have worked hard to improve the quality of our playing field, raising thousands of pounds to enable ground work. The top field is a crucial part of the work we do here as the children do PE on there all year round. Also, it provides an amazing resource to play sport fixtures on which rivals the facilities that actual football teams can offer themselves. Their enthusiasm and hard work have been crucial in creating a multi-purpose sport field which will benefit generations to come.

Overall, we are beginning to raise the profile of sport at Broughton again, we endeavour to create a love of sport which our pupils will have for life, helping them to become healthy, well balanced adults.

Once again, a huge thank you to all from Mr. Bird.

Preston Sports Award 2014

|

We are proud to announce that on Friday 7th March at the Preston Sports Awards held at Guild Hall in Preston, our school was awarded Primary School of the Year!

In the submission, Mr Bird talked of how pupils, parents, staff and governors played their part.  He talked of how we encourage children of all ages to become involved in a wide range of sporting opportunities and competitions.

We have a long list of achievements for the year, and there is no doubt that we have seen a year on year improvement. Below is the video produced by Andy Wilson for the winners of the award. We hope you enjoy it.
