Year 5/6 Triathlon - West View Leisure Centre - 5th November|
Team Broughton's Magical Triathlon.
On the 5th November Broughton Primary School competed in the Year 5 and 6 Triathlon, at West view Leisure Centre. In the afternoon, they did a fitness test, swimming and eight laps of running on an all-weather pitch. These 6 athletes: Ethan C, Lewis S, Sam W, Elise R, Annabel C and Alex L did the fitness test first in the West View Sport Hall. The events that they had to do were ball throw, speed bounce, sit ups and bench twists. These tasks had to be done within 30 seconds at each station. After this, all 6 athletes went to the swimming pool and got lined up ready to swim to the shallow end, and try and get the fastest time as a team, out of the 25 schools which were there. Once they had done a brilliant job at swimming, they had to head over to the all-weather pitch to run their 8 laps each in a relay. Finally, when all the heats were done, all of the 25 schools lined up ready to hear all the fantastic scores everyone had achieved that afternoon. After listening to 3rd and 2nd place all the teams were desperate to hear who had got 1st place, but once first place was called out, all of Broughton’s 6 athletes gave a proud cheer and everybody gave them a clap!
Well done Team Broughton, the 6 athletes which competed had done a remarkable job on winning 1st place! It was amazing to witness such team spirit and togetherness, we are so lucky to be trained by Mr Bird!
